Key Lime

Citrus x aurantiifolia

The true Key lime, small and thin-skinned with an aroma no Persian lime gets near. This is the thorny form, which is the one that fruits best. Bears in flushes most of the year once settled.

Growing Key Lime in Central Florida

Full sun, sharp drainage and shelter from wind. The thorns are real, so site it away from a path. Feed through the growing season and pick when the fruit turns from deep green to a paler yellow-green, which is when the juice is at its best.
